The settlement, which was founded in 1830 under the name of Sarıkavak, became a district in 1858 with the name Iğdırmagardıç of Teke Sanjak. As a result of the administrative changes made in 1914, the Teke Sanjak Manisa Liva, the district of Elmali Sub-district connected to the town of Elmaliye and Antalya district of Igdirmagardic Iğdırmagardıç is divided into two sub-districts called Kumluca and Kemer. Kumluca was connected to the newly formed Finike district and Kemer district was connected to Antalya. Kumluca became the county on 1 April 1958 with the Law No. 7033 on the Re-establishment of 78 districts and the connection of Kuşadası accident to the province of Aydın in İzmir province.
Kumluca is surrounded by Mediterranean and Kemer districts, Finike district to the west, Elmali and Korkuteli districts to the north and the Mediterranean Sea to the south.
