Chimera


Yanartaş is a geographical feature near the Olympos valley and national park in Kemer. It is the site of dozens of small fires which burn constantly from vents in the rocks on the side of the mountain.

Directly below the fires are the ruins of the temple of Hephaistos, the Greek god who was associated with fire through his role as the blacksmith to the gods. To see the fires and the ruins, visitors must first go to the entrance at the foot of the mountain. The site is at the top of a one kilometre climb. This is basically a rock stairway and is easily managed. Most people visit at night, the fires are at their most spectacular. In ancient times sailors could navigate by the flames, but today they are more often used to brew tea.

  

How To Go ?

Chimera is 1 hour away from Kemer and accessible with transport and entrance fee charged. When you arrive to the entrance there are esclades waiting for you and after a 30-40 min of walking you will arrive to the Chimera.

Phaselis Ancient City


After the Çamyuva location on the Antalya Kumluca Highway, you can reach the ancient city located on the beach by 1 km. It is 59 km from Antalya and 15 km from Kemer. Entrance to Phaselis Antique City is chargeable. The city is located on the edge of 3 magnificent bays in the coastal part and in a lush forest. These bays are home to Phaselis Beaches. The buffets of the museum serve those who visit the city and those who enter the sea. It is one of the striking ancient cities that must be visited by the sea.

BC It was one of the most colorful pages in the history of the city to greet Alexander the Great in 333 with a golden crown. Phaselis changed hands many times after Alexander, BC. Phaselis Ancient City is 20 min far from Kemer Center with transport and also it is accessible with yacht tours. With transport you can go to Ancient City entrance and walk 30 min to arrive ruins. There is a parking area next to entrance and entrance fee charged.

Seljuk Hunting Lodge


Located in the forest next to the entrance of Kemer1 on  Antalya-Kumluca Highway, Seljukian Hunting Lodge dated between 1230-1248. Historical Stracture is one of the three known Seljukian Hunting Lodge and the only Seljukian Stracture and only symbol of Turk-Islam tradition for the region.

Idyros Ancient City


Idyros was found in Kemer at a location next to Ayışığı Bay during excavations carried out by Antalya Museum between 1976 and 1977. The studies on Idyros ancient city still continue. Byzantine wall ruins, three doors threshold and a wall resembling the abscissa as well as ruins of a church were found during excavations. The of the church was made of orange, tile red, white and gray stones and it was coated with mosaics. The ornaments with the geometrical motifs are surrounded with vegetable boards at the heart shapes. A chapel was found in the southern part of the church. The findings and coins found during excavations show that this structure was used during 4th and 6th centuries. The ruins of Byzantium city can be found along the coast of Ayışığı Bay. There is a clover shape church and some other constructions as well.

Gedelme Castle


Not far from Kemer, approximately 12 kilometers to north of the city,on the mountains (650 m above sea level),  a small village Gedelma has the ruins of the ancient Roman Kadrema (Gedelme) Castle.

Entrance to the Castle is closed due to its general condition. However, the Castle can still clearly could be seen among the bushes.  Also Lycian Way passes through Gedelme and Gedelme has a cave depth of about 500 meters and a plane tree nearly 2.500 years old.   

How To Go ?

Comfortably to get to the Gedelme is possible only by car with 1 hour route – to walk or to bike will be very difficult, as the road is quite steep and constantly goes uphill (steep climb up the hill – about 5 km).  The entrance to the Gedelme is gratis.

Beldibi Cave


Beldibi Cave, located about 27 km. on the south-eastern part of Antalya,  19 km. from Kemer, is the one of the most popular caves of the region. Beldibi Cave is located on the coast, on a height of 25 meters and is an important prehistoric center of the Antalya region.

Six layers of Mesolithic culture and flint stone tools belonging to Paleolithic and Mesolithic ages are found at the diggings made at the Beldibi cave. There are also schematic human, goat, and deer paintings on the walls of the cave. Beldibi cave is an archaeological site open to the public for all year round where located at the Obakoy region, nearby the Camdag tunnel on the Antalya-Kemer road.

Tahtalı Mountain


Tahtalı Dağı, also known as Lycian Olympus, is a mountain near Kemer. Visitors can ascend the summit with the Olympos Aerial Tram where is 2365 above from sea level. The Lycian Way long distance trail traverses the mountain.

Tahtalı Dağı lies on the east coast of the Teke Peninsula (Lycian Peninsula) and dominates the landscape around Kemer. From November to often into June, the summit is covered with ice and snow. In the spring of this snow layer is often reddish brown colored by Sahara winds, while it is often not seen in the summer because of the clouds.  Tahtali has lots of beautiful routes for outdoor sport lovers and draws many visitors each year.

Working Hours Of Olympos Aerial Tram

Between 01 May-31 October starting from 9:00 to 19:00 in each half an hour.

Between 01 November-30 April starting from 10:00 to 17:00 in every hour

  

How To Go ?

Visitors can ascend the summit with the Olympos Aerial Tram. From Kemer you can access to the Tram Location after 1 hour route and ascend the summit with 15 min travel with Tram and there are shuttle services in every hour to the entrance of the Aerial Tram.
