About Elmalı:

The history of the town of Elmalı starts with the Lycians living in the 5th and 4th centuries BC. The region remained under Roman and Byzantine Empire, the Seljuk State, the Teke Principality and the Ottoman Empire. Elmalı is one of the important cities representing the north of Lycia. The district is a region that has been intertwined with various civilizations. It is impossible for today to determine them in order.

Elmalı, who passed under Ottoman rule during Yıldırım Beyazıt period, became the residence of Teke Liva and attached to the Anatolian Province in the early days of the Ottoman Empire and the residence of Teke Pasha. When the administrative center was transferred to Antalya, Elmalı became an accident. The district is named after Kabal, Emelas and Elmalı.

Elmalı

Elmalı was built on a plate-shaped plateau trapped between the folds of the Taurus Mountains that cover the South Anatolia to the Western Mediterranean Region. The northern hemisphere is located on the eastern skirt of the Elmalı Mountain, which reaches an altitude of 2,503 meters in the east meridian plane. Elmalı is surrounded by the Beydağları, the branch of the Taurus Mountains. The location of the city center resembles a dish. In this bowl, Elmalı Mountain is located in the north of the district, Tilkicilik Hill to the east, Topdağı Hill to the west and Elmalı Plain to the south. The streams do not show a regular regime. Tea and creeks, consisting of the melting snow of the mountains, plays an important role in the irrigations of some of the plains mentioned above. Although the Mediterranean region, the Mediterranean climate in the district, not the continental climate prevails. According to 2015 data, the population of Elmalı is 38.515.
